Annual Youth Fishing Day
Each year in July the Newmarket Optimist club in association with the Aurora Bass Masters club hosts a free fishing day for local youth. The event is held at Fairy Lake in Newmarket and prizes are given to attendees. This years event will be held on Sunday July 8th, 2012.
Annual Grade School Youth Chess Tournament
At the beginning of March each year youth from all local elementary schools in Newmarket are invited to participate in a chess tournament. The winners of each grade are invited to participate in a zone competition at the end of the month. This years event will be held on Thursday March 1st, 2012.

Air,Sea and Navy League Cadets
The Optimist Club of Newmarket sponsers three cadet programs meeting at the youth center. The 94th Air Cadet Squadron meets on Wednesday evenings, 221 Patriot Sea Cadets meets on Tuesday evenings and 118 Carinthia Navy League meets on Thursday evenings. The Navy League is for youth aged 9-13, the Sea and Air Cadet programs are for youth aged 12-19.

Central Ontario Leadership Seminars
(COLS)
The Central Ontario Leadership Seminars (COLS) is a charitable organization committed to developing the leadership skills of grade ten secondary school students. Dedicated volunteers have provided three-day and one-day leadership seminars to Canadian students free of charge in Central Ontario for over 25 years.
